Optional. Blank loan term uses the full repayment period.

How this franchise loan calculator works

The calculator uses a fixed nominal annual interest rate compounded monthly, with equal monthly payments. The starting rate is an example, not a current offer. Enter your lender’s quoted rate and check that the calculation method matches your proposal.

Calculation method and assumptions

Monthly payment = P × r ÷ [1 − (1 + r)−n], where P is the loan amount, r is the nominal annual interest rate (as a percentage) divided by 1,200 and n is the number of amortizing monthly payments. At 0% interest, payment equals P ÷ n.

The repayment period is the amortization used to calculate the payment. A shorter loan term leaves a maturity balance, shown separately and included in total repaid. No future refinancing rate is assumed. Interest-only months are included within the repayment period, leaving fewer months to repay principal afterward.

Upfront fees are paid separately, not added to the loan. Extra payments reduce principal without reducing the scheduled regular payment; they are capped at the remaining balance. Interest savings compare the selected term with the same loan without extra payments. Prepayment penalties, insurance, taxes and costs not entered are excluded.

Calculations retain precision internally and display amounts rounded to cents. Totals can differ slightly from sums of rounded rows. Budget mode assumes full amortization and excludes advanced options. Equal payment periods are used, without calendar dates or daily interest accrual.

These are planning estimates, not rate quotes, loan approvals or affordability assessments. Actual lender rates, fees and terms may differ. Calculations run in your browser; saved comparisons last only for this visit. A shared scenario link contains the inputs in its URL and can be read by anyone you share it with.

Turn an estimate into a financing plan

Start with your total project cost

Include the franchise fee, equipment, leasehold improvements, deposits and an operating cash buffer. Subtract the investment you can contribute to estimate the financing gap.

Test more than one scenario

Compare a higher rate, a slower opening and a different amortization. A comfortable payment should leave room for royalties, rent, wages and seasonal changes in revenue.

Check the lender’s actual offer

Rates, payment frequency, compounding, fees and prepayment rules vary. Calculator outputs are illustrations, not a financing approval, quote or promise of available terms.
