Application preparation and lender coordination

Franchise financing consulting across Canada

Fund My Franchise provides consulting support for franchise buyers and owners across Canada.

What our franchise financing consulting includes

As former bankers and franchisees, we help prepare your business plan, organize your financing application and coordinate lender discussions at your request. Our focus is the project you are opening, buying or growing. Lenders assess the application and decide whether to approve financing.

Our work starts with understanding the transaction. We organize the project budget, owner contribution and available documents, prepare the business plan in-house and help coordinate the financing application. A clear file connects what you want to finance with the information a lender needs to assess.

For a new franchise, the request depends on opening costs and operating assumptions. For a resale, it also needs the purchase structure and available financial history. For an additional unit, the existing business and the new location need to be explained together. Those differences shape the preparation.

Consulting support and lender decisions

You may see the terms 'franchise loan broker' or 'business loan broker' when searching for financing help. Fund My Franchise is a consulting firm, not a brokerage or lender. We provide business planning, application preparation and lender coordination at your request. You can also approach a bank or credit union directly. We do not set a financial institution's credit policy or guarantee a result; lenders determine the approved amount, rate, repayment terms and security requirements.

Depending on the project, financing discussions may involve banks, credit unions or BDC. The suitable route depends on the business and applicant. No displayed lender logo means that every institution is available for every application, and no recognized franchise brand removes the need for a credit assessment.

Decide where you need support

A useful initial conversation identifies your current stage and the work still outstanding. You may have a brand in mind, a draft purchase agreement, an equipment quote or a request for a business plan from a lender. Share what is already confirmed and identify what is still being negotiated.

Tell us about any existing lender discussions before further applications are considered. The purpose is to keep the request, documents and communication consistent. Ask how information will be shared and what authorization is needed before a submission or a credit check.

  • Project: the franchise brand, city and whether it is a new opening, resale or expansion.
  • Budget: the estimated total cost, your proposed contribution and the amount to be financed.
  • Documents: available franchise information, quotes, purchase terms and financial records.
  • Timing: key dates for the lease, purchase, construction or proposed opening.

Ask clear questions about scope, fees and submissions

Before engaging a financing consultant, understand the services included and the costs you may incur. Ask for the scope, fees and payment triggers in writing, including how business-plan work is treated and what happens if the application does not proceed. Clarify whether any compensation comes from a lender or another party.

Also ask who will receive your application, who will be your point of contact and how sensitive documents should be supplied. An initial website enquiry can describe the project without account numbers or identity documents. Detailed financial records should follow an agreed document-sharing process.

Compare the complete offer, not only the interest rate

A useful financing comparison considers the amount available, total fees, payment schedule, security, owner contribution and conditions for receiving funds. Check whether the proposed facility covers the costs you actually need to pay, and whether the timing fits the transaction. A lower headline rate alone does not answer those questions.

BDC recommends comparing financing options and considering operating cash when purchasing a franchise. Use your forecast to discuss the effect of repayments and any gap between opening costs and the release of funds. Your accountant and lawyer can advise on the financial and contractual matters within their roles.

Keep the next step clear through lender review

A lender may ask for updated documents, revised costs or an explanation of the forecast. We help organize follow-up information so the business plan and financing request continue to describe the same project. Keep us informed if the purchase terms, ownership or opening schedule changes.

An initial indication, a conditional approval and funded financing are different stages. Before relying on an offer, confirm the outstanding requirements and how funds will be advanced. Our Canada-wide support helps you prepare and coordinate that process from the first discussion through the lender's review.

Your questions, answered

Is Fund My Franchise a franchise loan broker?

No. Fund My Franchise is a consulting firm, not a brokerage or lender. We help with business-plan preparation, financing-application preparation and lender coordination at your request. You can approach lenders directly; choose consulting support based on the work you need and the agreed scope and fees.

Can a financing consultant guarantee approval or the lowest rate?

No. The lender makes the credit decision and sets its terms. Our consulting support does not guarantee approval, a particular rate or access to every lender. Compare the written offer and its conditions against your actual project needs.

What should I ask about consulting fees?

Ask what is included, who pays any fee, when payment is due and what happens if financing does not proceed. Clarify any separate business-plan cost and any lender or referral compensation before agreeing to the engagement.

Can you help if I already spoke with my bank?

Yes. Tell us which institution you approached, what was submitted and what it requested. We can discuss help with the business plan or supporting documents while keeping existing discussions clear and avoiding inconsistent applications.

Do you work with franchise buyers outside Ontario?

Yes. FundMyFranchise supports franchise buyers and owners across Canada through remote preparation and lender coordination. The available financing still depends on the location, transaction, applicant and institution.
