Start with the complete project, not a loan amount
Your funding requirement starts with more than the franchise purchase price. We help you organize the costs of getting the location ready, the funds you can contribute and the money needed to operate after opening. Separate confirmed quotes from estimates, and show when each payment will be due.
A clear sources-and-uses summary connects the total project cost with owner investment and requested borrowing. It also makes gaps easier to spot before you commit to a lease, construction schedule or purchase deadline.
Match the financing discussion to your transaction
A first location, a resale and a second unit tell different financial stories. Our role is to prepare the right story for your circumstances and approach suitable financing channels. Depending on the project, those discussions may involve chartered banks, credit unions or BDC. Each institution applies its own criteria.
- New franchise: organize startup costs, owner experience and opening assumptions.
- Existing business purchase: connect the agreed transaction with the seller's records and your operating plan.
- Expansion: show how the additional location fits alongside your current business and obligations.
Choose the right structure for a small business loan
A franchise is a business model, not a single loan product. A small business loan for a franchise may fund an opening, an acquisition or an expansion, but the financing structure must reflect the costs involved. Equipment and fit-out, the purchase of an existing business and day-to-day operating cash create different questions for a lender.
Ask which costs a proposed facility covers, when funds can be drawn and how repayment fits the cash-flow forecast. Where the Canada Small Business Financing Program is relevant, check its eligible costs and limits separately. Do not assume a program maximum, advertised rate or payment estimate is an offer for your business.
Put your business plan behind the application
We prepare business plans in-house, with the financing request at the centre of the work. Your plan should explain who will operate the franchise, how the location will earn revenue, what it will cost to run and how the proposed borrowing fits the budget.
We work from your actual franchise materials, cost estimates and available financial information. Assumptions should be identifiable and explainable; a polished document is useful only when its numbers and narrative agree.
Understand what an approval does and does not mean
FundMyFranchise arranges financing; the lender makes the credit decision and sets the loan terms. An initial conversation, an indicative structure and a written approval are different stages. Review the conditions attached to any offer, including the documents and contributions required before funds can be advanced.
A lender's maximum product amount is not a promise that your project will receive that amount. Eligibility, financing structure and the amount approved depend on the complete application. We help you keep the application and outstanding information organized throughout those discussions.
Work with people who understand both sides
Our team brings experience as former bankers and former franchisees. That perspective helps us connect the questions an entrepreneur is asking with the information a lender needs to assess. We support clients Canada-wide, including those preparing their first franchise purchase and owners planning another location.
To begin, share the brand, city, estimated project cost and where you are in the process. You do not need every document ready for an initial discussion. Identifying the missing pieces early gives the financing work a clearer direction.
Your questions, answered
Can you help with a franchise I have not purchased yet?
Yes. You can start a financing discussion while evaluating a franchise. Tell us what is confirmed, what is still estimated and any deadlines so we can identify the information needed to develop the application.
Do you lend the money directly?
No. We help prepare and coordinate financing applications with suitable lenders. The financial institution decides whether to approve the request and determines the conditions, security and repayment terms.
Does every lender finance every type of franchise?
No. Availability depends on the institution, business, transaction and applicant. We assess the project before deciding which financing discussions are appropriate; displaying a lender or brand logo does not guarantee an offer.
